Globe Bag Company, Inc. started as many businesses do, with the vision of a man hoping to provide for his family. In 1956, Benjamin Goldenberg, along with his wife Eileen, purchased Globe Bag Company, Inc. Today, over 60 years later, Globe Bag Company, Inc. continues to be a family owned and operated business run by their son Mark.
Originally located in Charlestown, MA, we established ourselves as a reliable supplier of burlap and paper bags for packaging potatoes. A devastating fire in 1959 forced us to relocate. We moved to South Boston in 1960. By 1964 we had added a second warehousing facility in South Boston and in 1966 acquired New York & Boston Bag Company. This was the first of many acquisitions of family owned and operated packaging firms. L. Kushner & Son and Samuel Siegel Bag, both of Massachusetts, were also added, and in 1985 we acquired Binghamton Bag & Burlap Company of New York.
Over our 60+ years we have continued to expand our products and coverage area. Today we operate out of a modern single story distribution facility outside of Boston, MA close to all major highways. Our products now include packaging for agriculture, seafood, feed seed & grain, baking, chemicals, construction, and retail stores just to name a few.
